Wow, what a ride today. We started out a little late but headed out the Gainesville-Hawthorne Trail again. This time we started at Rochelle and traveled all the way to The Hawthorne Trail Head and back through a tunnel of shade most of the way. The weather was wonderful, sun shining and not to hot with a nice woodsy sent in the air. The only trouble was at the begining when I was airing up Barbie's tire and the valve stem broke.
Replaced the tube and we hit the trail. There were quite a few people out there on bikes and skates. Several folk's on recumbents but mostly diamond framer's. We saw a black snake crossing the trail racing to get out of Barbie's way, a buzzard of some kind and a bunch of butterflies. We were passed by a group of about 12 racing biker's at one time and exchanged a bunch of good morning's as they flew by. It sure was great to get to the restroom just before we made it back to the vehicle...LOL On our way home we stopped at Pearl Country Store on the corner of 234 & 441 and had a sandwich. Then a stop at Planet Smoothie for an energy drink and back to the house.
